Purpose of Meeting
This meeting was intended to provide Committee members with information to facilitate deliberations on several key issues addressed in its December 2021 Consultation Paper, and enhance their understanding of Canada’s Indigenous community history and perspectives.
Summary of discussion
The Committee discussed the analyses of comments received on the following topics addressed in the Consultation Paper:
- Independence of the Canadian standard-setting model, as affected by:
- Legal structure;
- Funding; and
- Composition of oversight councils and standard-setting boards.
- The sustainability assurance standard setting process and its oversight.
The Committee also received a presentation on Indigenous perspectives and context to assist with its review.

IRCSS’ next meeting will be held on June 22 and 23, 2022.
