Renée Chen

Renée is a Managing Director at the Accounting Policy Division of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institution (OFSI). 

She is responsible for a team of Chartered Professional Accountants that monitors developments in accounting and auditing standards and evaluates the impacts to Federally Regulated Financial Institutions. Under Renée’s leadership, the team contributes to OSFI’s rule-making process and supports supervisory risk assessment and intervention for banks and insurers. 

Renée represents OSFI on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s Accounting & Audit Experts Group and is a co-chair of its Expected Credit Loss workstream. She has also represented OSFI on the International Association of Insurance Supervisors’ Accounting & Auditing Working Group from 2012 to 2016.

Prior to joining OSFI, Renée worked in Corporate Treasury at Royal Bank of Canada where she helped the bank implement hedge accounting. 

Renée began her accounting career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the financial services group. 

Renée is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a CFA charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University.
